Jennifer (Jenna) grew up in Illinois and received bachelor’s degrees in vocal music and speech-language pathology. She received her Master’s of Science degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Arkansas (Fayetteville) and began her professional career serving adults with acquired speech, language, and swallowing disorders in an acute rehabilitation hospital. After a few years of working with adults, she transitioned to serving children with speech, language, and feeding disorders in the private clinic, preschool, and home settings.
Working as part of several interdisciplinary therapy teams throughout her career, Jenna has enjoyed learning from various medical and therapy disciplines and continues to draw on this experience to incorporate an integrated approach for clients working toward their speech, language, and feeding goals. Jenna is always looking for ways to collaborate with other professionals involved in the care team (i.e. pediatricians, dentists, orthodontists, dietitians, allergists, ENTs, etc.) and to incorporate evidence-based practices that are contextual, functional, educationally rich, and fun!
Professional speech/language interests include motor speech production, executive function, early language acquisition, and social-emotional development. Jenna has also participated in many hours of specialized training in pediatric feeding (most recently including the Feed the Peds, TOTs Training, and STONES Approach for advanced myofunctional therapy), and participates in a monthly study/collaboration group to support ongoing interdisciplinary learning in orofacial myofunctional issues and therapy. She enjoys working alongside families to support their developing eaters and establish healthy oral function and nasal breathing.
Living in Washington, DC, Jenna loves to cook, take walks with her foxhound (Harvey), read, and practice countless therapy techniques on her three children daily.
